A Typical Week

Structured. Personal. Built for real life.

Each week includes five types of sessions — designed to cover core academics, personal interests, habits, community, and ongoing support.

Core Lessons

The academic core of the week. Session one typically covers ELA and Science; session two covers Math and Social Studies. Live, with your child's teacher.

Electives

The student chooses a topic they want to explore. Something they're genuinely curious about — not assigned, not standardized. Their choice.

WHILDE Habits

A group session focused on confidence, good work habits, and goal-setting. Addresses areas identified through ongoing student assessments.

Community Building

Virtual learning can feel isolating. This session exists to make sure it doesn't. Students connect, play, discuss, and build relationships with their peers.

Office Hours

Students can log on whenever they have questions, need help, or just need a check-in. Not scheduled — available.

Weekly parent communication

Ongoing communication between the teacher and parents. Two formal conferences per year — October/November and February/March. Ongoing communication encouraged and welcomed at any time.

What You'll Need

Simple requirements. No special setup needed.

Virtually WHILDE runs through Google Classroom and standard tools most families already have access to.

Technical Requirements

  • ✓A computer or tablet with a keyboard that can access Google Classroom and Google apps (Gmail, Docs, Drive). Cell phones are not acceptable.
  • ✓A Gmail email address.
  • ✓A strong, stable internet connection.
  • ✓A comfortable workspace free from distractions. (Driving in a car does not count.)

Supplies & Materials

  • ✓Paper, pens or pencils, a whiteboard, and basic coloring or art supplies.
  • ✓The program is interest-based, so additional materials may occasionally be requested — always communicated in advance.
  • ✓Parents are encouraged to supplement learning with art or music lessons, outside activities, clubs, or other projects that fill the student's day.

Tuition rates are the same for all grade levels. Three payment structures are available. The earlier you pay, the more you save.

To secure your child's spot: A non-refundable $1,000 deposit and a signed Enrollment Contract are required. The deposit is credited toward tuition. Space is extremely limited for 2026/27.
Sibling discount: Families enrolling more than one child will receive a 5% discount on each additional child.
Annual commitment: The Enrollment Contract is a commitment for the full 2026/2027 academic year. If a student withdraws early, tuition will be recalculated at the Trimester rate for each Trimester participated in — whether one day or the full Trimester.

Questions

What families ask before they enroll.

Each student is homeschooled in the eyes of the State of Maine. Families have hired WHILDE to teach their children on their behalf. WHILDE manages the curriculum, instruction, and academic record.
Virtually WHILDE is a project-based program. We do not administer standardized testing unless a parent requests it at the end of the academic year. WHILDE Blueprint assessments are conducted at the beginning of each school year to inform the curriculum.
Parent involvement is essential. We ask parents to sit with the student's teacher a minimum of two times per year for a formal conference. Outside of that, weekly teacher emails keep you informed, and ongoing communication is always welcomed and encouraged. The more we work as partners, the better the result.
Start by contacting us to confirm available space. If there is a fit, you'll complete a signed Enrollment Contract and a $1,000 non-refundable deposit to secure your child's spot. The deposit is credited toward tuition.
This is something we address directly through the program. The WHILDE Blueprint assessment at the start of the year helps us understand how your child learns and what engages them. The curriculum is built around those findings — not a standard template. Students who have struggled to engage elsewhere often find this program different because it actually starts from them.
Yes — occasional field trips are organized exclusively for Virtually WHILDE students. These are real, in-person experiences connected to what students are learning, shared with their virtual peers. Past examples from the broader program have included museums, nature preserves, and historical sites.
Virtually WHILDE serves students in grades 3 through 12. The curriculum and approach are adjusted based on the student's grade level, learning style, and the findings from their Blueprint assessment.
